Tower Hill Stables Faces Closure Due to Financial Problems
Founded by vegan athlete Fiona Oakes, the animal sanctuary is the result of her mission to rescue as many animals as possible, whilst promoting the cruelty-free lifestyle.
Founded in 1993, Fiona cares for all the animals across 6 locations in Essex and with 500 animals in her care both domesticated and ex-farm, the sanctuary relies on donations to keep it running.

However, despite her sporting success and recent starring role in the documentary Running for Good, she is not attracting the attention she needs in order to keep Tower Hill Stables running. It was hoped that making the public aware of Fiona and her sanctuary would encourage more people to donate to her cause but unfortunately, this was not the case.
The sanctuary is not run as a business as Fiona is a retained Fire-Fighter and her partner Martin has recently retired from working in Financial Services, so donations are needed to cover the cost of animal feed, which exceeds £12,000 per month. This does not include the added cost of vets and maintenance bills.
Tower Hill Stables are now desperately appealing for help.
