The vegan pizzeria has tripled in size with an ultra-sustainable refurb

The UK’s first plant-based pizzeria, Purezza, has extended its Camden branch. The new venue is now one of the largest vegan restaurants in the UK.

Specialising in meat and dairy-free alternatives to classic Neapolitan pizzas, the popular eatery is renowned for developing their own range of exclusive cheese. They are also currently in the process of opening a plant-based cheese factory and at the start of this year, released their first recipe book.

Purezza’s Camden division first opened in March 2018 and followed the successful launch of the Brighton and Hove site that opened in November 2015.

Since then, they have won multiple awards including National Pizza of the Year 2018.

Created using recycled and eco-friendly materials, the new space is three times bigger than its previous Camden venue and is the first part of the businesses expansion plans for 2020.

With their focus being on sustainability in food, the company has extended these values to build the interior of the new restaurant.

The furniture has been sourced from Purezza’s previous site as well as discarded items from other restaurants. The plaster on the walls is made using sustainable hemp and the new upholstered furniture uses vegan leathers and inner foams made from recycled plastic bottles.

The mirrors and lighting were made with recycled and reclaimed materials using sustainable methods of production, the doors were sourced from an old chapel, and the floor came from the previous Camden venue.

The new setting boasts a sheltered garden area with live plants adorning the walls making it perfect for alfresco-style dining, no matter the weather.

The extended bar also means that diners can enjoy a range of drinks and cocktails along with a selection of light nibbles such as Purezza’s famed vegan Cheese Dough Balls.

Demand has been steadily growing and Purezza credits this to the combination of a growing interest in plant-based food and innovation, as well as its unwavering commitment to quality.

Co-founder and co-owner of Purezza, Tim Barclay, commented: “Our flagship London restaurant has been struggling to keep up with demand throughout 2019. The single biggest complaint we receive is that it’s almost impossible to get a table most nights.”

“It’s a good problem to have, but providing exceptional customer experiences is one of our core tenets at Purezza. By tripling the size of our Camden restaurant, we’ll be able to meet the demand.”

The new Purezza is now open and can be found in Camden at 45-47 Parkway, NW1 7PN.
