Get ready for Pancake Day with new Waitrose offering
The retailer is stocking Squeaky Bean vegan pancakes
It can be tough to make the perfect pancake – whether you can’t flip them without sticking them to the ceiling, or they always seem to glue themselves to the bottom of the pan.
If you’re new to veganism, or you’ve simply not tried to make pancakes sans eggs before, you may be unsure of how to actually make them from scratch.
A lot of people share this cooking query – with veganism at an all-time high, searches for vegan pancakes in January on Waitrose.com were up a staggering 1,385 per cent, compared to January last year.
So with Pancake Day fast approaching (25th February), you might be worried about plans you’ve made to host breakfasts and pancake parties (trust us, they’re a thing).
But have no fear, because Squeaky Bean have launched the first-to-market ready-made vegan pancakes exclusively in Waitrose & Partners.
The two sweet varieties on sale are:
- Squeaky Bean Vegan Fluffy American Pancakes are made with soya and are a delicious vegan alternative to the classic stacking pancakes with a delicate light fluffy texture and a sweet finish.
- Squeaky Bean Vegan Original Sweet Pancakes are made with soya and are the perfect option for those craving a crêpe, drizzle with lemon and sugar for a classic Pancake Day treat.
‘Vegans won’t miss out’
Following the exciting release, Charlotte McCarthy, vegan buyer at Waitrose & Partners says, “Shrove Tuesday is always a favourite with our customers and this year we wanted to make sure everyone had a ready-made delicious pancake to eat.
“Whether you have them swimming in maple syrup and facon or go classic with lemon juice and sugar – our vegan customers won’t be missing out on their sweet treat this February.”
Squeaky Bean pancakes are available exclusively on Waitrose.com and in shops, or if you are making your own vegan pancakes get some inspiration here.
